Participez à une œuvre collective exceptionnelle aux côtés de l'artiste invité Barthélémy Toguo !

À l'occasion de cette 17ᵉ édition, vous êtes invités à contribuer à la reproduction de l'œuvre figurant sur l'affiche officielle de la Pool Art Fair. Ce projet participatif est une occasion unique de prendre part à une création artistique collective et de partager un moment privilégié avec l'artiste.

Pour la mise en place de cette œuvre, nous recherchons, si possible,

  • du papier bulle,

  • des planches, des tasseaux

  • ainsi que du contreplaqué épais.

Oeuvre de Barthelemy Toguo

Barthélémy Toguo est né à Mbalmayo au Cameroun en 1967. Entre 1989 et 1993, il poursuit des études d’arts plastiques d’abord à l’école des Beaux-Arts d’Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), puis à celle de Grenoble (France), et enfin à la Kunstakademie de Düsseldorf (Allemagne) où il rencontre Tony Cragg, Jannis Kounellis et Konrad Klapheck.

S’il s’installe en Europe, devenant citoyen français, Barthélémy Toguo reste profondément enraciné au Cameroun, où il retourne très régulièrement. Il y a créé Bandjoun Station, une fondation inaugurée en 2013 destinée à accueillir en résidence, dans des logements-ateliers, des artistes et des chercheurs du monde entier pour développer des propositions en adéquation avec la communauté locale. C’est ainsi que Bandjoun Station deviendra un carrefour, un véritable lieu de rencontre entre l’art classique et l’art contemporain ». Il y développe également des projets d’agriculture dans un esprit de développement durable et sain.

Between 1989 and 1993, Barthélémy Toguo studied art, first at the École des Beaux-Arts in Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, then in Grenoble, in France, and finally at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany, where he encountered Tony Cragg, Jannis Kounellis and Konrad Klapheck.

Although he stayed in Europe and became a French citizen, Barthélémy Toguo remained profoundly attached to Cameroon, and regularly returns to the country. There he created Bandjoun Station, a foundation inaugurated in 2013 with the aim of hosting artists and academics from around the world in residential workshops, to develop propositions in harmony with the local population. This “laboratory without borders” exhibits a permanent collection of contemporary works assembled by the artist, thanks to exchanges with his peers and collectors. There he also develops agricultural projects, in a spirit of healthy and sustainable development.

Since the end of the 1990s, Toguo’s work has been noticed by critics and curators, who invited him to participate in major events: Hans Ulrich Obrist in 1999 for “Migrateurs” (ARC, Paris), Jean-Hubert Martin in 2000 for “Partage d’éxotismes” (Biennale de Lyon), Pierre Restany in 2001 for “Political Ecology” (White Box, New York), and Okwui Enwezor in 2015 for the Venice Biennal, “All the World’s Future”. In 2016, Barthélémy Toguo was one of four artists nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize and on this occasion, he presented the installation “Vaincre le virus!” at the Centre Pompidou.
