Iké Udé Artiste Invité
Pour sa 16e édition en Guadeloupe et après avoir débuté en 2004 à New York, le salon d'artistes PooL Art Fair s'est imposé comme une institution locale de premier plan et probablement le salon d'artistes le plus unique au monde. Ce succès a été rendu possible grâce à la participation d'un nombre impressionnant d'artistes et de professionnels de l'art locaux. Un tel succès est également dû à la qualité de la programmation. L'artiste et fondateur Thierry Alet avait déjà invité de nombreuses célébrités du monde de l'art en Guadeloupe, comme la directrice de la Documenta, Naomi Beckwith, ou l'artiste très respectée et controversée Renée Cox. Pour PooL Art Fair, il a invité des pays comme le Canada, Haïti et même la France, mais aussi des artistes comme Salustiano ou Ayana Velissia Jackson.
Iké Udé est un invité très spécial pour nous, explique Alet, car « il suit mon travail d'artiste et d'impresonario, comme il aime à me qualifier, depuis des décennies ».
Il a accepté l'invitation avec enthousiasme pour contribuer au rayonnement de la scène artistique locale. Il se réjouit également de poser le pied sur l'île du Chevalier Saint-Georges. Une figure historique née en Guadeloupe qui résonne profondément dans le cœur de M. Udé. Les liens les plus directs entre lui et le Chevalier sont le style, le courage, le talent et le destin. Aujourd'hui, nous pouvons mettre l'accent sur le style, car cette qualité contribue grandement à définir une personne. C'est l'une des promesses de l'exposition d'art la plus attendue de New York cette année au Met, « Superfine ». M. Udé est l'un des artistes principaux de cette exposition. In its 16th edition in Guadeloupe and having started in 2004 in NYC, the artists salon PooL Art Fair has established itself as a leading institution locally and probably the most unique artists salon of the world. This has been possible with the participation of an overwhelming number of artists and local art professionals. One can also attribute such success to the quality of the featured program. Artist and founder Thierry Alet had invited many art celebrities to Guadeloupe in the past such as Documenta Director Naomi Beckwith or highly respected and controversial artist Renée Cox. For the PooL Art Fair he has invited countries such as Canada, Haiti and even its own country France but also artists such Salustiano or Ayana Velissia Jackson.
Iké Udé is a very special guest for us, says Alet, as "he has followed my work as an artist and also an ‘impresonario’ as he likes to call me for decades".
He accepted the invitation with enthusiasm to contribute to the work of the local art scene. He also is looking forward to step foot on the island of Chevalier Saint George. A historical figure born in Guadeloupe and that resonates in the heart of Mr. Udé. The most direct links one could see between him and the Chevalier are style, courage, talent and destiny. Today we can emphasize on style as this quality goes a long way in defining oneself. This is part of the promise of the most anticipated art exhibition in New York this year at the Met « Superfine ».
